In this video, Professor Dan Reinstein explains why long-sightedness, or presbyopia, is a natural part of ageing and why many people first notice it much earlier than they expect. For some, the first signs can begin in their mid-twenties, as the eye gradually loses its ability to focus on nearby objects. As the years pass, this natural focusing ability continues to decline, and around five years later, many people also begin to notice changes in their distance vision.
The good news is that modern vision correction offers several effective ways to restore clear sight. Depending on your eyes, prescription and lifestyle, treatment may involve reshaping the cornea with advanced laser procedures such as LASIK or SMILE, implanting a permanent contact lens (ICL), or replacing the eye’s natural lens with a premium intraocular lens. During your consultation, our surgeons will help determine which option is best suited to your vision and long-term visual goals.
