Partners with Carl Zeiss Meditec
Carl Zeiss Meditech is one of the most famous names in optics, with a business that now extends from the famous Zeiss lenses for cameras to industrial meteorology and lasers for laser eye surgery.
Thanks to the pioneering work of laser eye surgeon, Professor Dan Reinstein, the London Vision Clinic has been closely involved with Carl Zeiss’s work for over six years. Professor Reinstein worked with a small, specialist team at Carl Zeiss Meditec to develop what is now the benchmark for refractive surgery lasers: the MEL 90 Excimer laser.
This ground-breaking technology provides the most accurate, auto-stabilised calibrated delivery of laser energy of any surgical laser. Stability is critical for the most accurate results, and Carl Zeiss was the first manufacturer to introduce laser energy stabilisation.
Today, Professor Reinstein remains the key medical consultant for Carl Zeiss Meditec, continuing a collaboration that has delivered some of the key breakthroughs in the development of laser eye surgery – and which is sure to do so again.
“I believe this long-term, strategic partnership will continue to help Carl Zeiss Meditec maintain its position as a technology leader.” Stefan Kaiser, Director Refractive Lasers, Carl Zeiss Meditec.”
Since 2002, Professor Reinstein has been a very important part of Carl Zeiss Meditec’s global clinical research network for laser eye surgery. Carl Zeiss Meditec has worked in close partnership with Professor Reinstein and his staff at the London Vision Clinic on several key research initiatives including the treatment of presbyopia and high prescriptions.
