Laser Eye Surgeon Glenn Carp Speaks About His Own Laser Eye Surgery Experiences

How Glenn Carp Upped His Game

Mr Glenn Carp, a laser eye surgeon at the London Vision Clinic, speaks about his Laser Eye Surgery path and the expertise available to patients at the London Vision Clinic.

In 2006, Mr Carp joined the clinic’s surgical team to work alongside Professor Dan Reinstein, the founder of the London Vision Clinic.

Mr Carp On His Ophthalmic Training

All the way through medical school my main focus was to become an Ophthalmic Surgeon. I went to medical school being fortunate enough to have a bit more direction than the average person who I was at school with, knowing that my goal was once finishing medical school, was to go on and qualify as an eye surgeon.

Through the process of becoming an eye surgeon, one is exposed to various aspects of ophthalmology and I think it was the precision and the attention to detail that one needs with Laser Eye Surgery that has driven me in that direction. In order to become a laser eye surgeon one obviously has to go through medical school, become a doctor, you then specialise in ophthalmic surgery. It then requires another couple of years of super specialising, if you want to call it that, through the method of doing fellowships specifically targeted to working in this field.

Mr Carp On The Best Level Of Care Available At The London Vision Clinic

And there is very little that we can’t deal with here at the London Vision Clinic in terms of difficult cases, patients with exceptional circumstances at the end of the day. Most doctors can learn to become laser eye surgeons theoretically overnight, once you have an ophthalmic degree. It is just a question of learning a new procedure and then getting on with it. However, the surgeon who wants to try and offer the best, best level of care to his patients, will take the extra mile, or in my case two, and spend a year or two spending a little bit more time focusing specifically in an area of excellence with an expert.

Through my studies, and I’m fortunate enough to be involved with Professor Dan Reinstein, I was fortunate enough to spend a lot of time with him so that nowadays my level of care is, I would like to say, at the top of my game. And there is very little that we can’t deal with here at the London Vision Clinic in terms of difficult cases, patients with exceptional circumstances at the end of the day.

Mr Carp On The Benefits Of Laser Eye Surgery

Laser Eye Surgery is a benefit for anybody whether you are minus a half or minus ten, plus six.  I myself, have had Laser Eye Surgery and for me the advantages are numerous. When it comes to sporting activities there’s a lot more freedom, when it comes to activities where I need to wear sunglasses, it’s not a question of needing prescription sunglasses anymore and of course just in everyday life.
