How Long Will The Effects Of PRESBYOND® Laser Blended Vision Last? [Video]

How Long Will The Effects of PRESBYOND® Laser Blended Vision Last?

When it’s time to get reading glasses, you know that’s it.

At first, you only need them for reading the back of packaging, your phone, and occasionally other small text.

Not long after, though, you’re wearing them for most tasks, and seemingly spending any time you’re not wearing them looking for them.

And then not long after that, you can’t go anywhere without them, and they’ve become a permanent feature on your face.

That’s the thing about loosing your reading vision as you get older, otherwise known as presbyopia: once it starts, then there’s no turning back the clock and getting it back.

At least that’s the general consensus on the matter.

Setting in around mid-forties, presbyopia is an eye condition that affects everyone as they get older. However, since 2011 and the introduction of PRESBYOND® Laser Blended Vision, it hasn’t been a condition that everyone has to give in to, with the only option of seeing out the rest of their years through the ageing lens of reading glasses.

PRESBYOND® Laser Blended Vision has helped thousands of people to avoid the woes of reading glasses. But the million dollar question is, for how long? Surely it’s not worth having Laser Eye Surgery if presbyopia is a condition that’s related to the the body and the eye’s natural ageing process?

The Time-Stopping Effects Of PRESBYOND® Laser Blended Vision

The fact is PRESBYOND® Laser Blended Vision treats the effects of presbyopia, not the root cause. And so with or without Laser Eye Surgery, the lens in the eye steadily becomes less flexible and the muscles that pull it into focus become less powerful.

As presbyopia develops, the eye’s ability to adjust to vision at various distances continues to decrease. Most noticeably, it causes near objects to appear blurry and out of focus. For these reasons, we wouldn’t describe the effects of PRESBYOND® Laser Blended Vision as permanent. However, that’s not to say you will definitely end up back in reading glasses.

Mr Glenn Carp explains the effects of PRESBYOND® Laser Blended Vision.

In the video above, expert laser eye surgeon Mr Glenn Carp explains how your expected outcome is determined in the screening for PRESBYOND® Laser Blended Vision when you are tested to see what your tolerance is for a full PRESBYOND® Laser Blended Vision treatment.

If you tolerate the set up scenario very well, it gives the surgeon a strong indication that you are a good candidate for the treatment. As over ninety-five percent of patients are deemed suitable for PRESBYOND® Laser Blended Vision, according to data from our clinic, this is most often the case.

When you are treated with a full blended vision profile, you will have sufficient reading vision to last you the rest of your life.

As Mr Carp adds, there may be small changes to your vision over your lifetime, over a ten year period for example, which may mean that the very, very fine print becomes a little bit difficult again. But by and large, your general reading vision should remain.

To conclude, Mr Carp ensures that if it does become difficult to read very fine print, there is always the possibility of having an enhancement procedure if there is sufficient — although this is rarely the case.
